Online PR News – 26-March-2012 –The 911 emergency response system is a complex and critical government service. It is complex because successful response to every emergency 911 call requires coordinated activation of multiple human and technological elements. The response system is critical because protection of human safety and property is a fundamental expectation of government. States and municipalities commit significant resource to fulfilling this mandate.

Over the past 12 months, many Florida based 911 call centers have been working with HealthWay Home Product’s public safety division by equipping the call centers with state of the art medical grade air cleaners. Jeff Hoy handles the service and install for HealthWay’s public safety division. It is crucially important that the Government keeps these call centers as clean and healthy as possible. Limiting sick days and retaining the highest quality 911 operators is the purpose of this initiative. Vinny Lobdell, Executive Vice President at Healthway, stated “It’s a breath of fresh air to see a commitment to excellence at the governmental level. At HealthWay our commitment lies in providing solutions for the most mission critical indoor environments.”

HealthWay commercial air cleaners not only provide the highest efficiency at capturing dangerous ultra fine particles with ultra low pressure drop, but also eliminate air-borne virus, bacteria, and mold spores. The specially designed commercial air cleaners installed at several call centers over the past year have helped create up to a 95 percent cleaner environment at each of the emergency call centers.

HealthWay founded in 1981 emerged as the thought leader in the air cleaning technology industry developing 25 patents and building customized systems for the United States Government, U.S. Postal services and the Veterans administration Hospital System. Healthway continues to build solution based technologies to help address the most mission critical indoor environments serving 25 countries worldwide. Healthway’s latest technology innovation has been awarded the prestigious NASA innovation award by achieving 100 percent filtration efficiency of ultra fine particles with low pressure drop and certified destruction of 94-100 percent of viruses, mold and bacteria. Located in New York, HealthWay was named one of America’s fastest growing private companies by INC. Magazine in 2011.

Dzugan Method Restorative Medicine sent out an interesting story in their newsletter:

A groundbreaking public health study has found a connection between damp, moldy homes and depression. The study, led by Brown University epidemiologist Edmond Shenassa, is the largest investigation of an association between mold and mood and is the first such investigation conducted outside the United Kingdom.

Shenassa said the findings, published in the American Journal of Public Health, came as a complete surprise. “We thought that once we statistically accounted for factors that could clearly contribute to depression – things like employment status and crowding – we would see any link vanish,” said Shenassa, the lead author of the study and an associate professor in the Department of Community Health at Brown. “But the opposite was true. We found a solid association between depression and living in a damp, moldy home.”

The study was a statistical analysis of data from the Large Analysis and Review of European Housing and Health Status (LARES), a survey on housing, health and place of residence conducted in 2002 and 2003 by the World Health Organization (WHO). Shenassa’s team analyzed LARES data from 5,882 adults in 2,982 households.
